We are using a storage management application and I have been given tasks already to do daily. My manager gave me a book to read so we bring new ideas to improve what we are doing. I will update you more as time goes on but thanks so much again for the opportunity on Developer Factory.

General experience during your time in the Developer Factory?
  • The experience was great and the program offers such a wide opportunity to learn new things. I enjoyed every minute of the program and the environment provides one with the ability to communicate better and also become a great team player. During the program I was exposed to mobile development and web development and I managed to acquire a lot of skills that will help me to become the best software developer.

Opinion about Android development/iOS development?
  • My opinion on Android and iOS development is that both platforms are great to develop in and they provide a wide variety of things they can include on your application and that provides great functionality and great designs making Android and iOS apps the best.

Would you ever consider Mobile App development as a career?

General experience during your time in the Developer Factory?
  • I have sharpened my Windows mobile development skills. I have learned to compile an email and how to effectively communicate on a professional level. The programme is great to acquire new skills.

Opinion about Android development/iOS development?
  • Windows Mobile Development is more challenging than iOS and Android because to achieve the same results as in iOS and Android there is always some work around you have to get through. This is what I found interesting about it, because you always go the extra mile and it forces you to learn and widens your programming skills.

Would you ever consider Mobile App development as a career?
  • No! …. The market is shifting towards mobile platform but organisations still run their systems on full blown desktop operating systems. It is “cool” to develop apps but till such a point when companies run their systems as apps I would not recommend pursuing mobile development as a career.

3 highlights during your time on the program?
  • Working on iCollect App.

Suggestions on improvements for the program?
  • The aim is to bridge the gap between the academic world and the practical world. Current research (2013) shows that Windows Mobile Development is not in demand by organisations together with Blackberry as opposed to iOS and Android. Candidates should not be given projects that will not make them marketable. A skill set that is highly desirable in the market will help achieve the aim / mission that I have stated in my first statement.
